Final assignment

After completing the sewing of my toile, I presented it to my lecturer and Mr. Thomas. They approved my design and provided valuable feedback. Based on their suggestions, I made the necessary adjustments before proceeding to sew the final version of the garment.

For my look 1, I have extended the length of the garment.

And I have recreated a collar.

And this is the sleeve I added on for my look

This is the back pattern

All of my looks can use the sleeve and back pattern since all of my designs all inspired by from shirt.

Look 2 I also added the length.

Look  3 is the bottom and I refined the pant pattern which shortens the length and then the panel width
was also adjusted again.

Look 4 also just extends the length.

After drawing the pattern drafting, we received the fabric from Nanotextile and all of us can get the 2-meter fabric to do our actual garment.

Next, I placed my master pattern onto the fabric, carefully cut out the pieces, and began the sewing process.
The main difficulty I encountered was attaching the jacket zip to my pants. Unlike standard pants, these had a modified sideline, which required a different approach. I had to sew the zip first and then fit the pants on a dummy to check if it was sewn correctly. This process allowed me to ensure the fit and alignment were accurate.

Below is the outcome of what my collection looks like.

At the end of my presentation, I also took a photo with the industry team members. It was a relaxed and enjoyable moment, adding a joyful finish to the experience.

Reflection:

This module has shown me that there is a possibility in everything. Initially, I was worried about whether I could complete my assignment and produce four garments. However, I successfully created them and delivered a fantastic presentation to industry professionals. This experience has significantly boosted my confidence in speaking publicly and presenting my designs, especially since they are intended to help those in need. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity.

I want to extend a special thank you to my lecturer, Dr. Shaimaa. She has been an invaluable support, guiding me through pattern drafting and sewing whenever I needed help. Without her assistance, I doubt I would have achieved this success. Once again, thank you so much, Dr. Shaimaa.
