Bachelor of Fashion Design Technology (Honors)

Before the semester began, I traveled to Guangzhou to source various types of fabric for my collection. On the first day of class, I had a consultation with Kit to review my fabric selections and discuss my ideas for texture manipulation. He advised me to create samples first, especially since I had sourced a variety of lace materials. By experimenting, I could develop my own unique embellishments before finalizing which type of lace to use in my garments.

For my texture manipulation, I plan to layer the lace with dangling pearls to create a more intricate and elegant effect.

In the previous semester, I completed three looks for my collection. This semester, I have one final design to complete. Since the first three are all women's wear, I decided to create a menswear look to add variety and balance to the overall collection. I went straight to designing a male look, and because my collection is for the Autumn/Winter season, I wanted it to have an oversized silhouette. I chose to create a sweater, as it's a common and practical piece people often wear during the colder months.

After sketching five designs, I chose the third one to further develop and refine the pants.

I explored various types of pants, including straight-cut pants, regular-fit pants with a flared hem, cargo pants, wide-leg pants, baggy pants, and more. In the end, I chose baggy pants for my final design, as they best matched the overall aesthetic of my collection.

While drafting the sleeve, Kit helped me refine the armhole after I had enlarged the sleeve to achieve the oversized look I wanted. Kit also showed me how to do the finishing of the blazer.

This is the outcome of the toiles.

During Week 7, we had a jury session where we invited our head of school and program director to come to review and evaluate our garments.

After completing all the toiles, I began constructing my collection using the actual fabrics.

Once the garments were finished, we were required to create a lookbook. I booked a studio at our university and organized a photoshoot by inviting one female model, one male model, two makeup artists, and one photographer to collaborate on the shoot.

After doing the shooting, I started to upload more info to my sketchbook.

I also did a lookbook for my final presentation.
