Assignment 1
In the first assignment, we were asked to create a variation complete outfit or look in CLO3D. So in our first lesson of the module, we went through some tools In CLO that helped us set up and understand CLO.
We have explored the options, panels, and toggling between them. We will then discover what is inside the library, avatars, and loading items, followed by the selection, navigation, and simulation. Finally, we will understand the gizmo.l understand the gizmo.l understand the gizmo.
We also have a small exercise like item picking and placing it into the box so that we can know how to control the screen and the perspective view while we are drawing the pattern. We also experience the gismo so that we can learn how to adjust the layers cap.
We also learn the reset arrangement edit avatar tool and sewing tools.
After that, we started to explore fabric effects on variations like colors, prints, and graphic
- Fabric maps
- Fabric property editor and importing fabrics digital
materials.
After learning all of the tools I started to do my Assignment 1 task.
Task 1 is to draw a basic design as a 2D pattern simulate it in 3D and fit in the avatar nicely.

Reflection:
This assignment has been quite challenging for me because I had no prior experience with CLO software. Given the increasing role of AI in various fields, I knew I needed to learn it. I initially thought that using CLO would be straightforward since I had a background in Adobe Illustrator. However, I soon realized that CLO is quite different from Adobe Illustrator, and I struggled with the basics. What I expected to be a quick and simple process turned out to be quite time-consuming, as even drawing a basic pattern took almost two hours. I found it easier to draw on paper, which was a surprising realization for me. Despite these challenges, I didn’t give up. I spent over 10 hours working on drawing my three basic blocks for this assignment. I am determined to continue learning how to use CLO and look forward to mastering it and discovering more in the process.
