The BRIEF

Moulage is a French term also known as "draping." In the final project, my task is to produce garment designs from the final Fashion Project I module. This project required me to experiment with techniques such as marking, fabric pinning and positioning, and draping using a dress form in order to create THREE looks. I was also tasked with transferring all draping results into a working paper pattern. I shall explore all techniques learned from the garment draping module, produce toiles using Colico fabric, and sew on actual fabric to form the complete garment.

After I finalized my 3 looks with MR. JR who is the lecturer of my project 1 module, then I started to draw my technical drawing.

There is the 3 look of the design that I finalized out

Next is my technical drawing.

This is the first look at the technical drawing for the evening wear for the model size.

This is the second look of the technical drawing which is the Avant Garde for the miss plus size.

This is the third look of the technical drawing for the evening wear for the model size.

During my 02 assignment, I choose to use my look 1 for me to explore the draping technique so, in this assignment, I straight away used my master pattern and cut it onto the actual fabric.

Just to make a recap this is the outcome of my 02 assignment.

Front                                       Back

Left                                     Right

After looking at my look 1 outcome it looked too simple, so I decided to add more petals, and started to drape it by using mahjong paper.

Front                                     Back

Left                                       Right

After finishing my draping, I just straight away past the mahjong paper onto the actual fabric which is scuba, and cut the shape out.

Other than that I plan to use the net fabric for the top part so I take my master paper and refind the line where I want the net fabric located.

After that, I drape them onto the dummy and take a look at the outcome.

This is the outcome of my 1 look.

My second look is for the Miss plus and our studio did on have the plus size dummy so I straight away used the size 22 master pattern block.

Adjusting the master pattern block to my Miss Plus model size.

Progress of cutting the base fabric for the top and the bottom.

For my base, I have included lining, jacket interfacing, double interfacing, net fabric, and scuba.

After that, I use the interfacing machine to apply my jacket interfacing. This machine really helps me to speed up my progress and the overall outcome is better than using the normal iron to apply jacket interfacing.

Next is the texture for the bottom. I cut the fabric by using the template that I created by myself and cut it out by using the crepe fabric. After that, I do the bidding on the side by using the red colour bias so that the overall look will look more match.

After done the bottom, I started to do the top texture, which is similar to look 1 which is also using the technique of draping. After done the draping, I take out the dummy and straight past it onto the scuba fabric and cut it out.

After cutting them out, I apply 3 metal wires on each fabric so that it looks more similar to the hibiscus petals.

Lastly, is to add on the lining so that it looks more finished.

This is the outcome of my second look for Avant Garde miss plus size.

For my third look, I'm going to do a jacket that is not fitted so I just straight away the size 12 master pattern block.

I refind the line from the master pattern block and then only cut it out.

And then I straight away cut it out on the real fabric.

Other than that, I also cut the habotai/lining and black jacket interfacing, so that the outcome of the jacket looks neater.

Overlock the fabric after I cut them out.

Before I started to sew, I put all the penal onto the dummy so that it is easy for me to drape and have the vision to look at the outcome.

After I draped them, I started to sew the pleated fabric to each panel first only I attach them together.

This is the outcome of my third look for model size.
