Task 01: EXPERIMENTATION ON MEDIA – ETCHING PEN
I'm required to experiment with the technique through a specific demonstrated technique.
This technique of ‘angled straight ‘etch’ will provide a basic graphical hand strokes movement
towards other dry media strokes experimentation. With the theme of ‘Black & White Avant Garde’,
I was required to propose a selection of fashion editorials from magazines as a reference. I will need to do it on an A3 size illustration board and after finishing, I need to add a frame.
Progress:
In the first class on Fashion Illustration, MR. JR has introduced us what is fashion illustration.
Then MR. JR started to teach us how to do hatching. It looked very easy and simple.
Next is the time that I start to learn how to hatch. As you can see in the first row, the first column is showing the change of tone smoothly, which is demonstrated by MR. JR the rest is doing it by me. After I try it more and more, my hatching technic was looking more graphical.
This is the image that I am going to use for my media of the etching pen. This fashion editorial which is from Robert Wun's website is one of the images of my favorite pieces.
Then I transfer the image to A3 cartridge paper by using the light pad. The problem I face when I transferred the image to cartridge paper is the light pad was too bright, and after a long time of seeing the light pad, it caused my eye to be tired, I need to repeatedly rest awhile and then draw a bit and rest again, it needs a long of a time to do it.
After done of transferred the image to A3 cartridge paper, MR.JR demonstrated to us how to start to do the hatching from the start and how to do the detailing.
Exploring:
In the image I choose, I saw that the hair is the darker part, so I started to do the hair first just in case there is any wrong at least it is the darker part, I can still fill it up.
At this stage, there was all good for me to do the hatching at the moment.
Till this part, I realise that the gap of my stroke was too close and the direction of the hatching was slanting a bit already.
Since it is trial and error so I still continue to refine the line from the left side and try to connect them together. The outcome did not look much of a contrast and the tone changed smoothly because the gap of my stroke was too close.
This is the outcome of my trial-and-error finishing look.
Progress for the actual:
For the actual one, I transfer it by using a pencil that hatches it on the back side of the image, then flip it to the front side, past the illustration board on the bottom, and trace it.
This time I start to start from the left side first cause the face is the smaller part to do so I left it until the end only do.
I do it from left to right. The difficulty I face while I'm doing the actual one is controlling the gap between my stroke so that it looks more graphical.
This is the finished outcome for my media of the etching pen.

Task 02: EXPERIMENTATION ON MEDIA–COLOUR PENCIL
This task is to create a fashion illustration using coloured pencils using the ‘Scrubbing technique’. With
the theme of ‘Spring & Summer, I am required to choose any selection of fashion editorials from
magazine as reference.
This is the fashion editorials image that I found on Pinterest, which was also approved by MR. JR
Trial and error for media of colour pencils:
This is the trial and error for my media of colour pencils. For me the difficulties I face while I do the trial and error are scary. I have not done this before and I am poor of mix the colour so I'm scared about how to start and what show I do from the beginning. Later on when MR.JR guide me on how to do it, and it was fine for me.
The actual media of colour pencils :
This is the image of while I am trying to mix the colour and make sure the colour is correct.
When I doing the Actual one, I am suffering with the detail on the garment, it was small and curvey. I need to make sure the colour is correct and in the meanwhile, I also need to look up the different tones of the colour. and the image is a lot of white colours which mean it is not much for me to explore my colouring skill.
This is the video of my progress on media of colour pencil:
Second media of colour pencils Illustration:
I'm choosing this image from Pinterest to do my second media of colour pencil because the print of the garment caught my eye.
This is the trial for my second media of colour pencil, it was so much fun to let me explore my colouring skill, and it was satisfying for me when I have done each of the small columns.
The actual media of colour pencil
When I'm doing the actual one, I can do it faster since I have done around 4 pieces previously and also explore the way of colour.
After I did the bottom part, MR. JR is guiding me on my face part. I am so grateful that my lecturer spends precious time with me and taught me.
This is the final outcome for my media of colour pencil:

Task 03: EXPERIMENTATION ON MEDIA – MARKER PEN
In this task, I am going to create a fashion illustration using marker pen by using the “overlapping technique’. I will be starting to illustrate as well as practice rendering the stylized fashion figure. This is to ensure the technique can be achieved in a different platform of fashion presentation (Fashion Design sketches). After this exercise, I will create elaborated rendering strokes of the ‘overlapping technique’ on my final task which is on the final illustration board. With the theme of ‘Sports illustrated’. It required to choose any selection of fashion editorials from fashion magazines as reference.
This is the fashion editorials I am going to use for my reference.

After I trace out the reference, next I started to try out all the blue colour markers I have and list them on the paper so that it was easy for me to differentia what colour I am going to use.
And then, MR. JR started to teach me the technic of how to use apply the marker to the marker paper.
The outcome of my marker was look good so I just straight away use my try and error as my final.
This is the outcome of my experimentation with the media of marker pen.

Task 04 (Final Project): MIX MEDIA/ THEME HIGH FASHION (DRY & WET MEDIA)
My task is to create a fashion illustration themed ‘High Fashion’, with colouring using mixed
media technique-dry to wet media. I will explore fashion illustration using the
technique and media that have been thought of previously, from pencil, pen, pencil colour, pastel,
charcoal, markers, watercolour, and pelaka. With the theme of high fashion, I'm doing to
choose any model from the magazine as the subject matter and start to create figures and
experiment with various colouring techniques.
This is the reference that I found on Pinterest. It is designed by Iris Van Herpen's Haute Couture 2019 collection.
To be honest this is my very first time doing watercolours. I did not know how to start, what is the technic of doing watercolour, did not know how to mix the colour, or how many layers of water to apply to the watercolour paper.
After acknowledgement by MR.JR how does it work, this is the outcome of trial and error and it looks good then I expect so I use it for my final work.
Since it is a mixed media, so I used the Artline pen to tone out the part that is dark.
This is my final outcome for my Mix Media.
